Writers at their 'writers

Ever wondered which writers prefer the tap tap tap of the keys to the scratch of the pen? Here's a choice selection of those that
love(d) their portable - and not-so-portable - typewriters.

I love these photos too - especially the one of Margaret Mitchell as I am currently immersed in Gone with the Wind.

I'm glad you're enjoying them - they're fabulous, aren't they? I love William Faulkner, splayed out in the garden, topless but be-socked.

There's something really romantic about a typewriter. It's been years since I wrote on one, but I do sometimes wonder what it would be like to do it again. Brilliant pics, K x

Aww, look at how cute the young Alan Bennett was. I would have asked him out. But would he have accepted?

I know - he looks like something out of an E M Forster novel. He doesn't seem THAT involved in what he's writing, though - I think he'd have gone for a quick latte with you ;)

What a great post. Thanks for putting together the pictures. I love the one of Sylvia Plath. It just really captures her and her writing.
