Its exam time, and my teaching workload is so enormous that by the time I crawl - often literally - into bed and open my book, I manage little more than a paragraph before my head is drooping... so I grab reading time wherever and whenever I can at the moment. Five minutes at the end of lunchtime, ten with a cup of tea when I get home... Where and when do
you snatch those precious reading moments in a hectic day?
Do you curl up under the duvet...

...or risk dropping your book in the water?

Do you prefer, like Greta Garbo, to be alone...

...or are you more comfortable surrounded by your friends...
... or your family?

Do you like reading outdoors...
...or would you rather be inside..?
Do you usually succeed, against all the odds, in finding a few golden minutes for reading?

And do you even
care where you are, so long as you're comfy and you've got a book?

Lovely post Lulu - so many ideas for reading locations!
I have never been able to read in the bath - I can't get into a comfortable position for some reason.
My reading sneaks are:
The underground/on the bus - when I lived in London I always read on my way to and from work.
When dinner is cooking - there is always ten minutes here and five minutes here when you don't need to be doing anything.
My approach is to always have a book in my handbag - that way you can't get caught out!
Thank you for sharing a splendid post.
Hannah
I love those pictures,my favourite place to read is outside, especially in a quiet spot on the beach on a hot ( well warmish,I live in Scotland)day with a good book.
Brilliant post!
Hugs, xxxxx
I go through stages of being able to read for ages when I go to bed, but this depends on my children's sleeping habits! But then like you, I'm nodding off after a few sentences, which actually I find really frustrating. I prefer to read indoors, somewhere quiet and cosy.
ps. I noticed you're reading the book about Manic Street Preachers...I read it quite a few years back when I was still living in cardiff, it is totally brilliant, and now I want to read it again! cheers, karen x
I love this post! Beautiful pictures. I curl up under the duvet. Sometimes I manage only 5 pages a night and at others I can do a hundred. It all depends how tired I am but I can never go to bed without a book and without reading at least a page.
I think my favourite time to read is on a weekend morning in the summer, if I've had a really good night's sleep, and I can open the windows and lounge with a cup of tea for an hour or two. Makes me ready to face anything! Or, the complete opposite of that, bedtime in winter, when it's freezing, even snowing, outside and I can curl up under the duvet, preferably by candlelight... livin' the dream!
Karen - I'm so enjoying the Manics book. I used to be really into them, until 1995, so this is a total trip down memory lane for me :)
I adore this post and the lovely photos - my favourite is the lady on the stepladder. I mostly do my reading on the commute to and from work. I always make sure that I have a book in my handbag to make the most of my time :)
Wonderful pics and post! :) I usually grab a few quiet moments on my sofa before bedtime. Or in the garden if its lovely and warm!
hmm... I think it must be in bed - but then maybe that's because I love bed so much that it seems lying in excusable. Also like a long soak in the bath, especialy before getting read to go out.
