Arguably the physical ideal of womanhood, married to the godlike Arthur Miller, and star of some of cinema's most enduring movies, Marilyn Monroe was a great self-improver and read frequently: any where, any time, any place, and in any position.
Apparently Monroe was actually reading Ulysees when the photographer took her picture. He was busy loading film and she was taking a break reading the book. She mentioned that it was so hard that she was only reading bit and pieces at a time.
As a child, I lived inside books. Then I grew up, and little changed but the books themselves. They spill off the shelves in my cottage, make cliffs at the side of the stairs and build towers by my bed. This is their story.

I love those pictures of Marilyn. I really want to know what the books are!
Great blog, puts a whole new complexion on the phrase 'doing it by the book'. Glad to have found you !
These are amazing. Thanks!
Brilliant pictures - a side to her most people wouldn't consider. K.
I really love these photos, and as The English Writer says above, they really show another side of MM that I really didn't know about.
